Ben Ohmart, Music Dish Industry Journal

Last year's release of Limbic System is opening doors for Austin's Onlys. Yet any compilation of sixteen tracks would stand to test the patience of the most open-hearted listener. Repeated listenings can't be bought with promises of friendship, international security or refurbished in-dash 8-track players, yet that is what friends and critics admit to succumbing, alike. Members Joel and Jason Chenoweth and Rachel Romo have created a sound that marries moody synths, tempestuous guitar tones and clean, hard-driving backbeats and has earned them opening slots for Supergrass and the Starlight Mints.

The album has undergone US distribution via Carrot Top and Choke with a national radio add in October 2005. Fanatic Promotions competently handles publicity duties, while touring and recording emcompasses the Onlys' schedule whilst not performing.

The Onlys' sound has been described as Brit-pop without the pretension, drawing comparisons ranging from Radiohead to Pink Floyd. Their previous album, tune the blue screen, charted nationally on alternative radio and established the basis for a 2001 tour. 2004 saw the pre-release of a Shine video directed by Adam Bork, which had been aired regularly on independently-operated Austin Music Network until its unfortunate demise in late 2005.

The Onlys continue to live, perform and record in Austin, TX.
